How to use the sauna?
To have an enjoyable and safe experience, it is important to use a sauna properly. Below are our guidelines to bathe in the sauna. The main thing to remember is to take your time, relax and enjoy.
Self-preparation
Make sure you have had a shower at home before arriving for hygienic purposes. Consumed enough water throughout the day as you will sweat alot. Remove all your jewelry and peircings as they can burn you.
Once you arrive
- Our Finnish sauna is a very relaxing experience and generally takes 90 minutes. Remember to enter and exit the sauna as quickly as possible, so that minimum hot air escapes.
- Place a towel on the sauna bench for hygiene reasons and because the wooden bench gets very hot to touch. You can lay down on the top bench to relax or likewise sitting up is fine.
- Take the first set in the sauna without humidity. Our saunas' average temperature is around 70 to 80°C. Remember that a sauna is a sweat bath and you should only stay in as long as it feels comfortable for you. (10-15 minutes). Then exit the sauna safely.
- After the first set, cool off for a few seconds and then take a cold shower. This action causes your body to react. It is normal to feel light-headed at this stage after cooling your body down, in fact this is desired. So it is important to sit or lay down while drinking more water. Relax for 5-10 minutes or until you begin to feel cold, before starting a new set.
- With the second warming set, you can add humidity to the air by spraying a few sprays of water on the rocks. This will increase the temperature and cause you to sweat faster. It is also good at this stage to have a coarse shower brush or wash glove to rub your skin with. Your pores will open and allow more toxins to sweat out.
- Repeat the sweating and cooling-down process as many times as you can manage in 90 minutes. Usually 3 sets. Then again relax and cool down.
- Continue to drink more water after the sauna is completed. It is recommended to not perform any energetic activities for the evening.
- After a Good sauna you feel very relaxed and refreshed.
Look forward to a good night's sleep!
- Avoid overeating or drinking anything alcoholic before and during the sauna.
- Remember to read over the rules and regulations you signed when giving your consent.
Your body will love you for it.
